An Asian beauty supply store owner in north Harris County was verbally and physically attacked by customers on March 17, per KPRC2's Andy Cerota. The attack came just a day after a gunman killed eight people at three massage parlors in Atlanta, Georgia, six of Asian descent.
...“They started saying something like some racial words like, 'Asian people shouldn’t be in the Black market,’” said Sung Jun Lee, the victim's son, as reported by Cerota. “We’re stealing their money.”
Lee was present at the time of the incident, and said the women scratched his face when he tried to help his mother. He and his father were also nearly ran over by their vehicle in the parking lot.
A man was arrested after video captured him punching a 55-year-old Asian woman in the face in New York City's Chinatown on Monday, authorities said.
Alexander Wright, 48, of Manhattan, was charged with one count of assault as a hate crime, assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance in connection with the "unprovoked" attack, according to officials.
